Profile

The Office for Conflict Research in Developing Countries is a private Swiss consulting firm, specialised on legal pluralistic configurations, which offers operative advisory services for international development agencies in the domains of legal and social politics. It collaborates with a network of independent experts.

Focus

Thematically, the focus relies on societal rifts in order to promote peace in society. Target group proximity is key. When legal, political and social worlds conflict, appropriate arrangements for the promotion of human rights, the rule of law and good governance are required. The Office serves the prevention of violence and crisis.

Geographically, the Office disposes of keen expertise from sub-Saharan Africa, especially the Great Lakes Region and to a lesser extend West Africa. Its network adds additional country expertise from Western and Southern Africa as well as from Asian countries or countries of the former Soviet Union.

The advisory services rely on concepts of legal anthropology, legal pluralism, political sciencies, and ethnopsychoanalysis.
